Rueben Dass was born in Kuala Lumpur. He is the author of two novels that are part of a crime series: The Number Four (2022) published by MPH Publishing and Skin (2025) published by Penguin Randomhouse SEA. He has written several short stories, poetry and screenplays that have appeared on literary platforms such as Anak Sastra and Men Matters Online Journal. His screenplay titled ‘Mayat’ was shortlisted as the Top 10 Finalists among 144 entries in the 3rd Kuman Pictures Screenwriting Contest organised by a Malaysian production house. He has written and directed five short films that have appeared on YouTube. 

His interest in creative writing and literature ignited during his undergraduate years in London, where he spent much of his free time writing screenplays and stories. While he currently earns a living as a policy researcher in Singapore, he hopes to one day reside in a quaint cottage on a remote island or a quiet countryside, and write stories for a living. His lifelong dream is to write and produce a film.
